Best Sleeping Positions During Pregnancy

Most women complain a lot during pregnancy. One of the problems pregnant women face is sleeping comfortably. The truth is, your sleeping position has a huge impact on your baby.

Some women are most comfortable with laying on their back. However, when you are pregnant, this position must be avoided. Not only does it cause trouble sleeping and backaches, it is also the culprit to hemorrhoids and low blood pressure. Having low blood pressure is very harmful to you and your baby because it prevents proper blood circulation to your heart and your baby.

Above is called the "SOS" (Sleep on Side). To benefit from this position, pregnant women must roll over to their left side with their knees bent. To be more comfortable, you can place a pillow at your back, between your legs, and under your abdomen.

This position helps your spine remain straight. Avoiding lying on your right side will also prevent discomfort to your uterus, as your liver is located on the right and may put pressure on your uterus. Sleeping on your left side will also improve the flow of blood and nutrients to your placenta, something that your baby will truly love.

If you suffer from heartburn, try lying on your back in a half-sitting position. You will need some pillow to stay comfortable.
