Fiverr? What’s that?
If you are not yet familiar with Fiverr.com, it is the leading marketplace where you can buy digital services for a low price (starting at $5). For freelancers, this is a great place to make passive income online without ANY investment. On Fiverr, you can post your services, or "gigs". These could be short tasks like data entry, social media marketing, writing, or offering virtual assistance.
Sellers on the site get to earn at least $5 per sale, but you can increase that by adding "Extras" to your gig. Adding extras is on of the easiest ways you can make passive income online through this platform. The most common gigs on Fiverr are graphics creation, writing, SEO services and video creation. There are also bizarre gigs offered in there just like the ones you see on my blog post here.
The sign-up process is pretty easy. You can sign up through your e-mail, Facebook, Google Plus or LinkedIn.
After that, you will have to build your profile. Make sure that when someone visits your profile, they would know exactly what you’re good at.
Creating Your First Gig
Now you’re ready to sell yourself. When creating your gig, it is important to be creative with your titles. Be straightforward because your words are limited.
You might get disappointed when you learn that what you want to offer is already listed on the site. Yeah, I’ve been there, too.
Think about this:
- What makes you unique from the others?
- What ELSE can you do, other than delivering the basic gig?
- If you find a competitor, make sure you can offer more than what they are currently offering - but for the same price.
This is my gig that sells really well, the one that helps me earn passive income online through this site. If you search on Fiverr for “Twitter Followers”, you will see that there are gigs that offer thousands of followers for the same price.
But why does this sell even though I’m just offering 500 followers? It’s because of the word TARGETED. It’s quite easy to add real followers to an account, but most businesses are in certain niches that require them to have targeted audiences, and I deliver just that.
See? You can also do it.
Category: When selecting a category for your gig, make sure you select the right one. Also include the exact sub-category so your customers can find you.
Image: I usually only add one good image to my gig. Don’t just download a Google image and upload it. Customers get attracted to high-quality images so you also have to work on it.
I use Canva.com to create a unique, and eye-catching image. If you need a background photo, Pixabay.com offers a variety of choices for free.
Because your title is limited, you can add more information on the image that you create.
Description: Make this section very detailed. Let your customer know what exactly they will receive when they order your gig. Be honest. If you require something from them to complete the gig, tell them.
Before working on a Twitter account, I require my buyers to disclose their passwords. I let them know about that in the description. This is so that the ones who are not comfortable sharing their passwords would not order my gig.
You can also add a featured video to your gig. Most buyers will feel more confident when they actually hear you talking to them.
Your First Sale
Sometimes, buyers will contact you first before ordering. This is to make sure that you can deliver exactly what they want. Grab this opportunity and add some additional offers for being the first customer. I usually do this for my first customer when launching a new gig. People love freebies!
There are times when I contact sellers (yes, I also buy there :D), and some of them seem rude. When replying to inquiries, be friendly, make the conversation light. Even when they ask a lot of questions before ordering your gig, stay patient. Good relationship comes first before business. You never know - that buyer who annoys you may become a long-term customer.
Respond to messages and orders as fast as you can. Sure, it’s not possible to be on Fiverr 24 hours, but you can download their app to your phone so you receive real-time notifications for messages and notifications. I find their app very handy, except for the times when the app lags and does not let me see my dashboard.
Delivering Your Gig
Congratulations on your first sale! Now, you have to make sure you deliver what you promised. If you can do more without spending too much time on it, then do it.
Don’t deliver a gig just for the sake of finishing it. Give every buyer a personalized treatment. Communicate regularly, and in case you encounter a problem with delivering the service, let them know as soon as possible.
Your goal must be to assist them succeed with their business. If you focus on that, they’ll keep coming back to you.
This is a rinse and repeat process. Focus on customer relationship. In time, you will have lots of positive reviews on your profile, and more people will notice you. The more positive review you get, the more the possibility of making passive income online.
How to Grow Your Fiverr Business and Make Passive Income Online
Let others know about your business. Share your gigs on social media or join online communities where people might be looking for the services that you offer.
Below is a "Seller Badge". On Fiverr, you can generate a widget that will help you promote yourself anywhere. Learn how to generate the code here.
There’s also a section on Fiverr where you can find buyers who are looking for something done - the Buyer Request page. While writing this, I see that there are more than 3,000 requests on the site. That’s a lot! You surely would find someone who you can contact and offer your services to. But don’t get too excited, you can only send 10 offers per day.
Fiverr is a great platform to build your portfolio as an online entrepreneur, and eventually make passive income online. Today, I am not promoting my gigs as aggressively as before, but I like that people still find my services and I still get to work on a few gigs per month.
