Meet the Real-life Sleeping Beauty

Klein Levin Syndrome (KLS) is a condition where a sufferer would be sleeping for up to multiple weeks and in worst cases, can even last up two months, only getting up for a few hours a day to eat and go to the bathroom. This condition is commonly referred to as the "Sleeping Beauty syndrome".

Louisa Ball is one of the few real-life sleeping beauties. She has been experiencing this uncomfortable condition for years now, and her family has tried all they can to cure it. Doctors say that there are patients who can outgrow this condition. Although one can simply wait for KLS to do its thing and just move on to its next victim after one is past adolescence, it can be a nuisance for patients who have an active life.

Not only does this condition affect the sufferer, their families also have to deal with the sufferer's altered behaviors and confusion whenever they wake up from prolonged sleep. KLS mostly occurs in adolescents, but can also affect younger children and adults.
